WHAT IS

HUMAN

DESIGN?

Human Design is a comprehensive framework that blends ancient wisdom and modern science to offer profound insights into your personality and underlying energetic traits. It combines elements from astrology, epigenetics, the I Ching, quantum physics and the chakra system to create a Bodygraph chart, which serves as a personalized roadmap for personal and professional growth.

You can think of Human Design as a next-level Myers-Briggs or CliftonStrengths assessment. It helps you deeply understand who you are, all the way down to your unique energetic makeup — the true driving force of your career. From your strengths, typical behaviors and blind spots, to how you’re wired to work and interact with others, no two charts are identical. Your Human Design sets you apart from all other professionals, allowing you to sculpt and navigate your career path in a manner that only you are meant to.

CORE COMPONENTS

OF HUMAN DESIGN

THE BODYGRAPH CHART

The Bodygraph is a visual representation of your unique design. You can think of it as the energetic makeup that lies within the human body — invisible to the naked eye.

It consists of:

  • Corresponding to the chakras, these geometric shaped zones represent different aspects of you, such as communication, intuition, and identity.

Understanding and maintaining the balance and health of these zones is crucial for professional growth, performance and career fulfillment.

For example: Your solar plexus zone is responsible for your emotions. If it’s healthy, your emotions will be well-regulated, bringing passion into your career and giving you the ability to develop an empathetic leadership style.

  • Colored-in (defined) zones indicate specific areas of your work life where you have consistent and reliable ways of expressing your energy, such as the throat zone, which is home to traits like communication and leadership.

Uncolored (undefined) zones are more open and susceptible to external influences, such as your work environment and colleagues. They are hyper-sensitive, i.e. prone to wear, tear, and malfunctioning — but they can also be hyper-active in a beneficial way, if under the proper conditions, and with the right strategies.

For example: The sacral zone is responsible for productivity, creativity, and the fuel to work. If yours is undefined, you’re highly susceptible to burn-out and work exhaustion. However, with proper boundaries and adequate cycles of rest & recharge, you can get a full day’s work done in as little as 4 hours.

  • These numbered, colored lines describe specific traits and themes in your professional life, influencing how you express your energy, interact with colleagues, and perform in your career.

Understanding your Gates and Channels can help identify your natural talents, work preferences, and areas where you can excel, allowing you to leverage these insights for career advancement and greater fulfillment.

For example: Gate 61 has the talent of the insightful visionary — the potential to inspire teams and incite meaningful community change with their insightful takes and unique perspective.

  • Your zones of genius are home to the four strongest talents (or gates) in your chart. When you capitalize on these innate strengths in the workplace, you’re able to achieve more with less effort. Choosing roles and tasks that allow you to leverage them often will lead to your highest levels of career fulfillment.

Your zones of genius correspond to the geometric shapes that house the top two gate numbers listed in each of the columns beside your chart.

For example: If one of your strongest talents is gate 15, your zone of genius is the versatile magnet, who thrives in a career full of variety where you can march to the beat of your own drum. With a magnetic quality, you’re able to easily captivate and influence those around you to step into new, healthier patterns, making you invaluable in roles such as a Creative Director, Community Organizer, or Coach.

TYPES & STRATEGIES

There are five Human Design types, each with a unique strategy for working productively and communicating effectively. Each type is meant to contribute differently within a team, with differing roles and work tasks that best suit their natural abilities.

  • Born to initiate, Manifestors excel at bringing people and resources together to launch projects or advance strategic initiatives. In the workplace, autonomy, freedom, and independence are essential for them to thrive.

  • Endowed with abundant energy, Generators are master executors capable of bringing ideas to fruition, whether their own or others'. They excel when they pursue careers and tasks that genuinely excite them.

  • Experts at multitasking and driving projects forward, Manifesting Generators excel at completing tasks efficiently and swiftly bring ideas to life. As jack-of-all-trades, they thrive when given space to move at their own pace and follow their unique flow.

  • Masters of guidance, management, and advisory roles, Projectors excel when their talents and craft are recognized, earning themselves invitations to share their wisdom and utilize their strengths. They thrive in shorter, focused work sprints compared to other Human Design types.

  • As natural evaluators and analysts, Reflectors possess a keen ability to sense the state of their workplace, assess effectiveness, and objectively share progress on projects and plans. They easily absorb and pick up on the energies of their surroundings, making the office, coworkers, and work environment crucial for their well-being.

AUTHORITY, PROFILE, & ENVIRONMENT

From your inner decision-making mechanism, to the style of your professional personality, to your ideal working setting and office environment, your Human Design Authority, Profile, and Environment provide empowering insight into how you're meant to approach your career choices, personal brand, and workday.

  • Authority is your inner decision-making mechanism. It varies by person and provides guidance on how to make career choices and business decisions that are individually correct for you. You can think of your Authority as your intuition.

For example: Someone with emotional authority needs to process their emotions fully before making a decision. They should avoid deciding at emotional highs or lows and instead wait until they reach a calm, neutral state of clarity before moving forward.

Your profile encompasses the strongest assets you bring to your team, clients and employer, the work values you should prioritize for advancement, and your strategy for finding career growth and fulfillment.

You can think of your profile as a guide to how you learn in your career and what others seek from you.
